Looking forward to your retirement?

Do you have something exciting planned? Something you’ve been wanting to do for ages but didn’t have the time? Or are you struggling to think of how you’ll fill your day? If you’re looking for a challenging, exciting and rewarding hobby then why not come and learn to fly a glider at Strubby Airfield near Alford, the home of the Lincolnshire Gliding Club.

We operate on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays weather permitting. We arrive around 08:30, generally stop until all the kit is put away and consequently bring a flask and a packed lunch. If you drive a car you will almost certainly be able to fly a glider. If you also ride a motorbike you have a head start. The natural balance you have when cornering your motorbike will help when you learn to balance your turns in the glider.

Air experience flights are available to buy on our website from £75 and that includes 3 months’ full membership. This means that for 3 months after your AE flight you can come and learn to fly with us at member rates: £10 for a winch launch and 50 pence per minute flying time.

There’s lots of information on our website but if you have a specific question please ask and someone will respond. The Lincolnshire Gliding Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club and everyone involved is a volunteer; there are no paid staff and all flying instruction by British Gliding Association qualified instructors is free. We look forward to introducing you to a beautiful hobby.
