This year you’d be forgiven for thinking that the gliding season has yet to get underway. After all we’re now into July and have yet to experience classic summer soaring weather. However, as frustrating as waiting for the weather to play ball for pilots looking to do long duration and distance flights in search of internationally recognised badges can be, there are many aspects of gliding that are challenging and rewarding that to achieve simply require the weather to be flyable.
Learning to fly might seem like something only the rich and privileged can do. Well I’ll let you into a secret, it’s cheaper than golf and having briefly had a go at wacking a small ball a long way I can confirm that I found learning to glide a lot easier than golf, and you don’t need to invest in silly shoes.
The first step to take if you think you’d like to learn to fly is to book an Air Experience Flight with Lincolnshire Gliding Club. All the details of how to do this are on our website, and if you’re reading this you’re in the right place. We can offer up to 3 of these flights on each of our regular flying days of Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday weather permitting. Or if you’d like to come as a group then we can put on a special flying evening which is what we’ll be doing for a group from Louth on Thursday 11th. July 2024.
